Feb 23

Today in class: 
We made our Unit 3 packet "The Constitution" and completed the Electoral College activity and the Electoral College Debate- in order to do this you will need a Gov book.  You may either come to intervention! or check a book out from the Library.

I also introduced your project for this unit- the Amendments photo essay.  This will be Due March 5

Homework: type a one-page (2 paragraph, 5 sentences in each paragraph) summarizing both sides of the electoral college debate.  State which side has the best arguments and why.  Due next class!

Feb 19

Today we had a mini-quiz on Federalists and Anti-Federalists; make sure that you can answer the questions:
1. Who supported the constitution?
2. Who wanted strong state governments? Strong Central government?
3. What was written into the constitution to appease the anti-federalists about individual freedoms?

Feb 17

In Class:  we learned about the Federalists and Anti-Federalists- you will need to fill out the notes from the PowerPoint on these pages.

We also read through historical documents to understand what type of government Federalists would like and what type of government Anti-Federalists would like.  Read through Document A and Document B by Hamilton and Melancton Smith.  Once you have read through these documents, fill out the rubric on the back side.

Your Rough Draft for your paper were due today! If you were absent your rough draft as well as final draft will be due on Thursday the 19th.

Feb 12

In class: We watched more of 'A more Perfect Union' and started talking about slavery in the constitution; we filled out Slavery grievance page in your packet (once you have read it, answer questions 1,2,3)  We also filled out the rubric on the back; if you were absent you will need to come in during intervention to fill out the rubric!

Your rough drafts were due today!.... however, I have decided to extend the deadline a bit, the rough draft will be due in class next Tuesday the 17th, and your final paper will be due Thursday the 19th!

Homework: Finish your rough drafts!

Feb 10

Today in class we compared our class constitution to the US constitution; please fill these pages out in your packet! Finished Learning Target #2

I also checked off your outline for your paper today; if you were absent this along with the rough draft will be due NEXT CLASS PERIOD!

Homework: Finish up Learning Targets for day 1 & 2, get your rough draft done for your paper! This will be due next class period (you may handwrite your rough draft)

Feb 2

Today in class we.... 

Corrected Unit 1 Test- I will hand these back next class period, you will have until the next test to do your test corrections! (make sure you read through the disclosure amendments, so that you understand how to do your test corrections!)

We watched our class video :) Great job! We also started talking about the constitutional convention the 2 issues that were discussed were Representation, and Slavery; we did a simulation of the meeting that took place in Phili! If you were absent you will need to write me a 1 page double spaced, 12 pt. font summary of the issues discussed, and the outcome of the meeting. This will be due the day of the test!
