Today in class we had a guest speaker.

Today in class: We went to the elementary school and read your books on a bill becoming a law; the kids absolutely loved it so great job!

*Make sure that you have turned these books in- if you were absent to make this up you will need to read your book to an elementary age child and bring me a note saying that you did.

Your projects will be presented next Wednesday (April 1st) so make sure that you have both parts- the PowerPoint and the letter.  Please email both of them to me kayliw@provo.edu

Today in class: You worked on your projects! This was the last day in class that you will have time to work on them.  You MUST be prepared to present on April 1st (next Wednesday)

**Remember that your project has 2 parts: the PowerPoint & the Letter to the Congressman (you can find instructions on how to write your letter under the Unit 4 tab)

IMPORTANT!!!!! Thursday (March 26) we will be going to Timpanogos Elementary school where you will read your book about a bill becoming a law to a child.  You MUST bring your books (unless you have turned them into me) and you MUST be on time! 1st period will leave at 8:05, and 7th period will leave at 1:00.

Today in class we:

Finished up your House of Reps + Senate notes (pages 3-4 in packet)

Introduced your project for this term! Info on page 8, ideas for project page 7.  We worked on this in class, and will have all of Tuesday to work in class. You will be presenting to the class on April 1. I suggest that you use this weekend to gather the information you will need, so Tuesday you can put your presentation together.  

**We will be going to Timpanogos Elementary School next Thursday to read your books on how a bill becomes a law

Today in class: We took the Congressional Leadership Quiz! If you were absent, come talk to me, and I will tell you the make-up date!

We took notes on Page 3-4 of your Packets; learning more about what the House of Reps is, and what their roles are.  The last part of class you worked on your children's book about a bill becoming a law!

*REMEMBER this needs to be finished by Friday

Today we had a practice quiz.... your real quiz will be next time in class! Use the pink sheet of your packet (page 12) remember you will need to know 4 pieces of information:

1. Full Name
2. Political Party
3. Title
4. Body of Congress

We also started  writing a children's book describing the process of how a bill becomes a law (instructions on page 6 of your packet) this will be due on Friday....
*****PLEASE DO QUALITY WORK!!!! You will be reading this story to an elementary school child! 
I will not accept this project late!

Today we discovered and practiced what it looks like have a bill passed in Congress! If you were absent, you will need to turn in the bill that you wrote!

Homework: Study for your test next week.... over the Congressional leaders. You will find information for this on the pink sheet of your packet (page 12)

March 10

Today: We made our new packets! For this unit we will be learning about the Legislative Branch of Government. We went over how a bill becomes a law and you all wrote your own bills and turned them into me at the end of class. If you were absent, you will need to turn this in (directions on page 5 of your packet)

On Wednesday the 18th you will have your quiz.  Using the pink page in your packet (page 12) you will be researching important figures in our government. Start working on this for homework.   I will show you their picture and you will need to tell me their full name, party, title, and body of Congress.
For example if I show you this picture you would tell me:
Image result for barack obama   Barack Obama, Democrat, President, No Party (trick question; he is not a member of the House of Representatives or the Senate)
