August 26

Journal: You looked at different quotes from Philosophers about HUMAN NATURE and chose the one that speaks to your soul.  If you were absent you can look at these quotes when you return!

In Class: Today we started discussing the Philosophers (Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Montesquieu) You took the personality quiz on pgs. 9-10 and answered the questions about 'student nature' on page 9.  We discussed the STATE OF NATURE as well as SOCIAL CONTRACT. You must define both of these (pg. 10 green sheet)

We focused on Thomas Hobbes today and his interpretation of a LEVIATHAN.  You read an excerpt from his book Leviathan and answered the 2 questions that followed

1. How doe Hobbes describe life in life without government (state of nature)
2. How does Hobbes describe the ideal government (the social contract)

If you are still a bit lost when it comes to Hobbes and how he viewed Human Nature, watch the video below :)

Homework: If you were unable to finish the Leviathan reading- this needs to be completed before our next class :)
